Submissions

plain china accepts submissions of literary journals or magazines featuring undergraduate work published in the last academic year. Our reading periods are from September to December and February to April each year. Journals received during our off-seasons will be held until the next reading period.

We are currently accepting submissions of literary journals or magazines featuring undergraduate writing and art, published during the 2021-2022 academic year.

If you are interested in submitting your literary journal to plain china, please read and adhere to the following guidelines:

If your journal is available as a pdf and/or online, you can submit the journal in its entirety at [email protected].

If you would like to send us your print journal, we ask for five copies, minimum. Ten copies are preferred. We have a large student staff, and the more copies you provide, the more quickly our editors can read and review your submissions.

Since plain china is a collection of only the best undergraduate writing, we ask that you specify whether or not your submitted journal is comprised entirely of undergraduate writers. If your submission includes authors who are not undergraduates, we ask that you provide a list of which authors in your journal are undergraduates and therefore can be considered for publication in plain china.
